Random Facts About Me
  1. I'm an even 5'0".
  2. I've been on anti-depressants for almost two years now and I've never felt better.
  3. I love folk music more than is healthy. I have a new found obsession for Southern Gothic.
  4. I just love music more than a healthy amount in general.
  5. I put hot sauce on my popcorn.
  6. I wanted to be a witch really bad growing up. Thanks a lot Hermione.
  7. I've seen every episode of Friends upward of 10 times each.
  8. I have a hard time letting people in. I have a pretty big wall up.
  9. I'm so much cooler online.
  10. I have no filter. I'll pretty much say anything.
  11. I've been working on a novel for long time. I don't even know when I'll truly commit to writing it.

1. What is the story behind your blog's name?

At 24, I just don't feel like I've completely found myself. I'm "making" myself a little bit every day as I learn and grow.

2. If you are married, what song did you dance to at your wedding? If you aren't married, what song would you pick?

I always had my heart set on My Best Friend by Tim McGraw. Seriously, I picked it when I was 13.

3. What is your most embarrassing story?

This is a problem for me, because I have no shame. I should get embarrassed but I don't. I'm sure there's something. Maybe the time I walked into a glass door while on vacation and almost broke my nose? Or the time I ran into a tree and broke my braces and they went through my lip and I had to walk home four blocks bloody and crying?

4. When do you feel the most confident?

When I'm doing something that I love to do and am good at. Nothing boosts your confidence like knowing you are completely OWNING something and killing it.

5. What is something you are proud of?

I'm proud of myself for taking the steps to overcome my mental illness. It's a journey that may last forever, but I've made huge progress in the last few years. Something I never considered possible.

6. What are your three favorite stores to shop? (online counts)

Oh man I have the most ridiculous addiction to online shopping. I seriously need to cut up my credit card before I go broke. The two online ones are Just Fab and Nail Polish Canada. The offline (I'm so funny) one is Target. Le DUH.

7. What is something you like to splurge on?

Nail polish and make up. I can't justify spending more than $20 on pants but I will spend $60 on an eye shadow palette. How does that even make sense? RIDDLE ME THAT!

8. What is something about you that people would be surprised to learn?

I can lick my elbow.

9. What is the first blog you ever read?

I think the first blog I ever came across was "The Daily Tay". It really was what inspired me to hop on the blog train. She's maybe one of the funniest people I've ever come across. Ever.

10. What are some of your goals?

Travel the world! Live in another city. Work in publishing. They're all a little ways off but I'm working towards it.

11. What is your go-to meal to cook?

Chicken enchiladas. I'm maybe the best at making Mexican food. Not even going to lie. Actually. SO GOOD at it.

Thanks Amanda for nominating me for the Sunshine Award! I love Q&A's so this was fun :)

Instead of nominating 11 bloggers, I want to nominate ALL of you! Same questions and if you end up doing it let me know so I can read them!

And with that I will leave you with my current favorite song. If you follow me on Spotify, you probably saw me listen to this 20 times in a row. Thanks to Brooke for showing it to me!

Oh P.S., I finally booked my flights so I guess it's time to let everyone know I will  officially be going to Portland in July to visit with two of my favorite people on this entire planet, Jessi & Brooke!!! I'm so excited I seriously can't contain it.

Jenn's Bridal Shower

Last night, one of my oldest friends had her bridal shower. Her church organized it along with the bridesmaids and it was beautiful. Obviously my favorite part of any shower is the food and it did not disappoint.

I still can't believe I'm at the age that a lot of my friends are settling down and having babies. I swear we were just 16 yesterday. I'm so over the moon happy for her and her groom to be, but I also feel my age for the first time in a long time.

One thing that really blew my mind, was that two years ago on the same day, our good friend Alex had her bridal shower. I went to Alex's shower with Jenn, and yesterday, I went to Jenn's shower with Alex. Also, da fuuuuuuq Alex, you've been married for two years!? Time really has flown by.

Alex and I were excited! Also, my mom wouldnt look at the camera.

Andrea, the Maid of Honor, and the Bride to be, Jenn!

She got so many gifts it was ridiculous. Lovely little apron!

One last thing. I think it should be noted I actually put make up on and did something with my hair. That's how much I love Jenn. Congrats lady!

But seriously guys, let's slow down on the growing up okay? Okay. Thanks.

imPress Manicure and An Eventful Weekend

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

(introductory paragraph goes here)

Phew, got that out of the way. My brain is off today because work is busy busy busy! I don't hate it though. Anyway, I wanted to give a quick update on my weekend. It involved a comedy club on Friday, my last shift at The Children's Place on Saturday, and a grocery scramble on Sunday. If that isn't maybe one of the most adult weekends ever, I don't know what else is. Oh, Anna and I also had a Harry Potter marathon and watched up to number 4. Because obviously.

But first, my weekend started off with a little home manicure courtesy of Broadway Nails. Thanks to Influenster, I was sent these kick butt press on nails and I jumped at the chance to try them out. I LOVE experimenting with my nails.

These went on so easy and stayed well into the next day. Unfortunately, I cannot handle having fake nails, especially typing with them, so I got frustrated and ripped them off the next day. And guess what? They came off super easy as well! No pain, no ripping of my nails. It was fantastic.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone who can actually handle having fake nails. I'm just a big baby and can't. Ignore my sausage fingers, but here they are below!

After my manicure extravaganza, my weekend jumped into full force. Comedy club Friday and meeting the friends. Saturday I worked my very last shift in retail (I know I said that before but I actually mean it this time). Saturday night I went and watched my beautiful and talented best friend, Andrea, at her dance recital and she killed it! Then Sunday, ohhhhh Sunday... The highlight of my weekend!

Kristen, Anna, Stephanie, Jon and myself drove to a grocery scramble. I didn't even know these were a thing. THEY ARE SO GREAT. Like seriously, look at our haul! Not pictured is the giant jug of laundry detergent we also snagged.

That was all free courtesy of everything we could grab and carry as a group. Shout out to Jon for being a good sport and allowing us to chuck cans at his face while we ran like chickens with our heads cut off to get the goods. Also, he took this picture.

What a wonderful weekend. SO WONDERFUL. I'm maybe a little crazy today from being overtired. Wanna know why? Because of the flippin Goose that was outside my window ALL DAMN NIGHT and honked non stop. I thought shutting my window would suffice, but NOPE. Bitch apparently has a supersonic honk. I will run it over one day I swear to Zeus...

How was your weekend folks?

My Heart Hurts For Someone Else

I need to use today to vent. Is that cool? Am I allowed? OF COURSE I AM. It's my blog and I'll do what I want.

I want to take today to briefly touch upon a subject that has been up in my face lately. Cheating.
Now I think it should go without saying (but I'm obvs saying it anyway) that I think cheating is maybe the lowest thing you could do. It's scummy. It's gross. It's cowardly. If you're gonna cheat, just break up. When I was young, I unfortunately hadn't learned this lesson and it' my biggest regret in life. Not having the balls to end it first. It's been many moons since then and I have an overall greater respect for human beings than to do that to them.

Now, why am I venting today? Because it hurts my heart to see someone I love have their heart shattered and then go right back to what shattered it in the first place. No amount of proof, or love, or advice, or tears can get through to them. Heart gets shit on and they go right back to the shitter.

It hurts me because I know I have to let them learn their own lessons. but all I want to do is wrap them up in a blanket of hugs and keep them safe until everything blows over and I can release them back into the world full of love and respect and self-worth. But I can't, because it's not my life. All I can do is support them through their decisions. And it kills me. Because they deserve so much more and don't see it. And every time I see him I'm filled with such a seething rage. A monster roars up inside of me and I have to swallow it.

It all comes down to one thing:

Now just listen to this song and things will be better.

Linking up with Whit for #BackthatAzzUp
Linking up this song and quote with Amanda for Friday Favorites
Lastly I just want to give a huge shout out to my girl Tracey because she gets married tomorrow! Isn't that crazy!?!? Congrats lady, I hope it's a dream come true. You deserve it :).

Have a good weekend folks. I hear it's a 3 day for my american friends, so enjoy that!

Sponsor Spotlight: From A To Z

I just have one quick thing to share with everyone today before I introduce you to the lovely Ashley. You see, my cousins and I are super close. They're some of my best friends. There's 8 of us and we range from 24 to 15. We have a group message on Facebook right now because my cousin Jamie is collecting pictures for a photo book for my Grandma's birthday and yesterday she told us she's making a hobbies page. you know, pictures of us grand-kids doing what we love. She had 6 of us down, and says to Caitlin and I, "I don't know what you guys do for hobbies".

That awkward moment when you're the loser with no hobby. Taylor has soccer. Tanner has Karate and Cadets and my sister has baking. So Caitlin and I laughed and then realized, WTF our family doesn't know our interests! Because Caitlin and I are the nerds of the family. Our interests involve reading and school. But it's not like there are pictures of me in class. But then Jamie remembered that Caitlin has a boyfriend that she can just include on that page. So Caitlin's relationship is apparently her hobby. I still had nothing.

So I asked if Netflix was a hobby, which it should be. And they laughed. Then I said, literally, just put a picture of me surrounded by food since that's my life. Or me surrounded by 10 dogs because forever alone. They all laughed and said those weren't hobbies. So you know what I did? I made them this picture. HERE I AM GUYS! THIS IS ME AND MY LIFE.

And then Jamie actually put it in the photo book.

Last month I had the pleasure of having a sidebar party with Ashley! She blogs over at From A to Z and I love her to pieces. I wanted to do a little Q&A with her so you could all love her too!

Why did you start blogging?

I had a friend who started a blog and I thought it was cool so I wanted one, but now it has become more. I love writing and I love reading other blogs. I write for other people to inspire and uplift them.

What's your favorite part about blogging?

Meeting other bloggers (especially in real life!) I love being able to be myself when I write but to also give tips and guest post for others too!

Most embarrassing story?

One time my dad was picking me up from school and this car was just sitting in front of me and I thought it was my dad so I motioned for him to come further (because I was lazy) and so the car slowly started moving close to me and when I opened the door and got in, I realized it wasn't my father. IT was so embarrassing and the people getting in that car were right behind me and saw the whole thing!

What is the one piece of advice that has always stuck with you?

My mom would always say, "Go. Do. Be." It gave me this feeling of freedom. That I could go where I wanted, be who I wanted and do what I wanted in life. It became very meaningful to me.

Paper or E-books?

Both!! I have a nook that I use for books that have like a series of 7 books (HP!!) but then I also love the smell of new books and flipping through pages and being able to close the book when I'm done. So I'm all for both!

Confessions Are Now In Session

Wednesday already? This week is just flying by. I'm not complaining at all. But it's time for another round of confessions so are we ready? Here we go!

I confess...

...I have never watched The Bachelorette before. Monday night I sat down and got hooked. New roommate tradition.

...I haven't washed my hair in 4 days and I probably won't until Friday. It won't even get greasy til tomorrow so really, non issue.

...I googled what "go ham sammich" meant the other day at work. My coworkers and I regretted that instantly.

...I have 4 full sized chocolate bars in my desk at work in case of emergency. Yes, I have emergency chocolate bars. I also have a butt ton of Pez candy. No dispenser, just the candy.

...I just watched Prince Charles and Camilla drive past my office. NO BIG DEAL GUYS. I even took a video. I'm so obsessed with the royal family it's not even funny.

...I'm a really bad loser. I will flip the board in Monopoly if I'm losing. I don't know what it is, but I just need to win. All the time. Which led to me cheating in Mini Golf this weekend. I'm talking writing down the wrong numbers when he wasn't looking, whacking his ball out of the way of the hole; the whole shebang.

...I downloaded Tinder the other night with the boy just so we could troll guys. He was more into it than I was.

...Oh right, I guess I also confess I'm kind of seeing someone.
..I watched The Purge last night and I have some opinions. SPOILERS: Charlie is an effing idiot and should feel responsible for his father's death, the little prick. No one in this movie had any balls. No survival instinct except for Ethan Hawke and he dies because his family is stupid. Anyway, that's not my confession. My confession is that I would Purge. If it were a real thing, I would participate and purge and I swear I'm not a lunatic.

Don't forget to link up your confessions with Kathy so I can go read them!

Long Weekends Are My Jam

Good morning lovelies! What a happy Monday Tuesday it is today. Not.

Is it just me or is it extra hard to get into the swing of things after a long weekend? I had such a relaxing, fun weekend with my friends and family and then BOOM. It's time to work again. And this rainy gloom isn't helping make the transition any easier. But enough whining since that's about all I did last week!

It's about that time for...

* I'm more competitive than I thought. I cheated at Mini-Golf. Who does that?

* Treasure moments with your family. I had a horrible dream that unspeakable things happened to my parents. I was so distraught I rushed over to spend time with them.

* Catching up with old friends is a simple little joy in life.

* Friday nights spent eating Taco Bell, watching Mean Girls, and trolling guys on Tinder is the best way to spend time with your girls.

* Breakfast Baskets are my new favorite housewarming gift.

* If you're good, and you hope hard enough, your aunt will gift you her secret cookie/muffin recipes and all will be right in your world.

* There's noting wrong with a little tanning. In moderation.

* Most importantly I learned that sometimes you need to take a little risk in life and not over think things and let people in. It's okay to be scared but don't let it hold you back from something that makes you happy. I'm pretty happy.

I'm Not "Cute" Awkward, I'm "What The Hell Is Wrong With You Awkward"

Everyone says TGIF and I know it's overused. But today Thank f*$% it's Friday of the Long Weekend because I need a time out on life so hard. SO HARD.
It's funny (and not funny ha ha) how you think you're completely fine and over something. And then you get thrust into a situation where you realize what you thought didn't affect you has actually messed you up more than you ever thought possible and RUINS things that shouldn't be ruined. So a big eff you goes out to you sir. Thanks a lot for that.

It leads to me being so damn awkward and it's not an adorable awkward. It makes me mean when I don't want to be but like.. defense mechanisms.

None of this is making sense and I don't even care because I am seriously so blah right now it's unbelievable.

I'm just going to go listen to some Lumineers all morning and wait til the moment I can go home, curl up on my couch, and ugly cry to The Notebook while drinking lots of wine and eating lots of chocolate.

So let's just link up with Amanda and try and enjoy Friday instead of wanting to commit mind murder. (That's me committing murder in my mind cause I would never commit it in real life).

Apartment Adventures

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the pictures of my move into my new apartment. If you don't, then what are you waiting for? GEEZE.

Just joshing ya. But anyway, if you follow me, you're gonna see the same pictures here today because I haven't completely unpacked yet and of course I don't want to show the internet my new digs until it looks perfect. It's slowly and surely coming together. And by that I mean I spent upwards of $60 at Home Sense last night. I almost bought a silver elephant for no reason other than I was in Home Sense and it was pretty. I need help people. SERIOUS HELP.

I digress. The point of today is to share with you things I've learned from moving into my first big girl apartment. Anna and I call them "Apartment Adventures" but it's probably more we're just really naive and innocent and don't know things we should.

Lesson #1: Light bulbs are not included with lamps

Okay some people might be sitting there saying "DUH", but to Anna and I, we honestly believed when we bought our new lamp, it would automatically come with a light bulb. Boy were we wrong... Turns out that's common knowledge.

Lesson #2: Beer & Pizza is magic

Did you know if you offer someone beer & pizza they will do anything you ask? It has magical properties that makes people say "yes" to any task. "Hey can you help me move my 80,000 boxes of random shit I don't need on your Saturday off? I have beer and pizza!"

Lesson #3: Make friends with boys BEFORE you move

There's nothing like packing up all your stuff into boxes and then realizing you have no male friends. I never really noticed before that all my male friends were actually just boyfriends/husbands of my female friends. And if the girls are busy, the boys are busy too. So thanks to my Dad and my big brother (from another mother) Eric and my sister's best friend Daniel for doing ALL the heavy lifting. I hope you enjoyed your beer and pizza.

Lesson #4: Ikea is your best friend

Seriously ladies, if you're moving for the first time, buy your shit at Ikea. Sure, it's generic and you have to put it together yourself, but it's SO CHEAP. Anna and I furnished most of our living room thanks to Ikea. Plus it led to some serious bonding between all our friends having to put it all together so there's that.

Lesson #5: Unpack the kitchen first

One of the best things we did was unpacking the kitchen first. Once we got all of that crap into cupboards and out of the way, the rest of the move was pretty smooth sailing. Turns out most of your stuff is kitchen related. Plus, once that's done, you can make coffee and food to help the rest of the day run smoothly.

Lesson #6: Watch The Hills

Remember how Lauren and Heidi moved into their new apartment on the first episode ever? yeah, that's your life now. Anna and I re-watched seasons 1-3 before we got internet installed in the apartment and we could finally relate to their lives on a whole new level. It was amazing. Plus, The Hills makes for a great drinking game to pass the time. Have you ever noticed just how much they say "like"?

Lesson #7: Boxes. Boxes everywhere...

You will not unpack immediately. You will leave half your boxes unpacked for weeks, and the rest of them will stay piled at the door because you SAY you're going to take them to the recycling but then you get lazy. Literally just shit everywhere...

There's more I didn't mention. Things like how the walls between our rooms are paper thin, that decor can be a bitch to get just right, that you never realize how much crap you actually have until it's time to put it in boxes, that you will find clothes and shoes you forgot you even owned, and much more.

But now it's picture time!

This is our Kitchen. It's beautiful.

Our living room and balcony are also beautiful. I'm in love with our floors.

My poor tiny bed. I desperately need a bigger one.

First thing you need to do in your new apartment is take a shot.

I HAVE A BIG CLOSET. You have no idea how happy this makes me.

White girl status achieved with our Zebra curtain.

The living room is coming together thanks to Ikea!

What lessons did you learn when you moved out for the first time? Any tips for post-move?

*cough cough* I'm Sick.

Remember when I said I would post every day this week? LOL WHAT A JOKE, RIGHT UNIVERSE?!?

I'm sick. And I spent the whole day in bed yesterday. The only reason I even came to work today is because I have to miss all day Thursday for a soccer tournament with my girls and I cannot get behind. Look at me being all responsible.

But don't come to my office or you'll see a mound of snot covered tissues and honey-lemon halls errywhere. Anyway, because I missed the Things I Learned linkup, I'm just going to post a picture of my weekend for you. And just know that I learned that my mom is the and I'm really glad I got to cook her a delicious dinner.

Oh right, this is her and Anna's mom eating our delicious dinner we prepared. Mama bonding!
